I’m in love

Yes. You read that right.

I’m just going to come right out and say it to the world. I am head over heels in love.

It’s not easy to make me fall, but there are some people in this world that you can’t help but love and I strongly feel that I shouldn’t deny it any longer.

That little being there has captured my heart. I’ve always wanted a girl and if I could choose how she would be, she would be just like Princess D.

Not only was she a sweetheart, but she also let me stay in her room. You cant even imagine the high honor she bestowed upon me. Me? Sleep in a Princess’ room? I was very flattered.

She granted me the wish of watching her take her sacred swimming lesson and man was she amazing in the water! She even jumped in. She’s so very brave, much braver than I.

Spending time with Princess D showed me so many wonderful things. The joy of Rudolph. Seeing Santa TWICE in one day (apparently only Princess’ receive this high honor). Watching the wonderful movie, Enchanted, multiple times, as only a Princess should. I was even allowed to serve the Princess her royal hot dog. And for that, I was given the pleasure of having dinner over chocolate milk shakes. Only the best for Princess D!

A Princess is always in training to be the very best she can be. I learned that before bed every night, the Princess learns how to be successful. Also, she’s gotta learn how to Twitter. She has to keep up with her royal subjects somehow.

Only a true Princess Twitters on her royal pillow.

Hanging out with mom was lots of fun too. Even though she does sort of resemble a Star Wars character here.

Lucky for me, I’m a Star Wars Nerd.

Saturday, in the Park

Today was a pretty good day.

I went out and grabbed myself some coffee, drove around a little, got some photography porn magazines and got ready to go have some pictures taken.

My friends Jessie and David of Terwilliger Photo came out to take family portraits for my family. With my cousin in town from Iowa, and her mom in town from Alabama, we figured this would be a perfect opportunity to get a family picture taken. But sticking 12 people in a tiny portrait studio? 3 being kids? Then paying out the ass for one or two poses that we would have probably had to settle on? No fucking thanks.

Instead, we opted for the freedom of choosing a place and time. Having two photographers, one taking the portrait shots and the other candids? Being able to get every single shot taken on my own disc to do with them what I please? Having professional editing done to a large majority at no extra cost? Paying only $50 an hour? Yes, yes, yes, and hell yes.

David and Jessie were so professional. They were patient with the kids, even the very, very uncooperative one (not belonging to me for once! SCORE!) and friendly to everyone. They worked with the horrible lighting of the day and found great angles and places for us to shoot. I was seriously impressed and would not hesitate hiring them again. I highly doubt I will ever go to a studio again.

Did you know its been about 4 years since I have had an actual portrait taken with my son? I’ve been meaning and meaning to go but dealing with the appointment, the cost, all that crap just turned me off. Luckily, I was finally able to get a great shot of us. (And yes, he’s usually that squinty, at least when asked to pose. Dunno why)(But can we just say freakin’ awwwwww? Please?)

Seriously. My baby aint no baby no more.

Oooh they even do sexy shots. Obviously not for the uh family, but for erm, private use? Yea. I’m so highly entertaining the thought. Sure I don’t NEED them, but don’t you think they are good to have? Just in case? I mean, I have the boobs, I may as well use them while they are still high above my knees right? Oh shut up. You know you wanna see them if I do them.

Flashback Friday

Daddy Long Legs. Flamingo. Olive Oil.

Just some of the enduring things I was called growing up. I had long, skinny legs. I still have them, but they aren’t that skinny anymore. They aren’t half bad actually. But when I was young, I sometimes hated wearing shorts, especially in school. I was teased a lot. By boys who actually liked me. Who knew it worked like THAT?

I loved watching TV on my parents bed. And that armoir back there? Mine now.

Oooh I came across this bonus picture:

Do you see my grandpa’s shirt? It says “I Love Short Women”. He was such a PERV! Ahahaha I love him and miss him and I WISH I could have gotten to know the pervy side of him before he passed away. That’s my grandma to the left of him (passed as well) and my 90yo grandma to the left of her. I think we were waiting for the Olympic Torch to pass. I look a little disgruntled eh?

Flashback Friday

I was a complete girly girl when I was little. I loved dresses and hats, tights and pretty shoes. But the thing about me is, I used to run, and jump, and play HARD in all of those clothes. I was constantly ripping holes in my tights, scuffing my shiny shoes, and getting dirt all over my pretty dresses.

This pink dress here was one of my favorites. It had a matching hat with a white ribbon and I was ALWAYS wearing the hat without the dress.

I dont remember much about this other white dress. I believe it had red polka dots. This is probably following a hair cut because my hair was long enough to sit on at some point. Obviously my mom was really proud of my long hair.

I know, I know. Holy ears batman. They come from my mom’s dad and obviously I passed them on to the kid. And I realized that I got my wonkey eye from my mom’s mom. And the dimples? Pretty sure they came from my dad’s side.

Flashback Friday

Here we go again. This time, I think I had to be about um… 6 or 7. Right around my son’s age. I think I looked more like him when I was really small. I dunno. You be the judge.

Everybody now… AWWWWWW.

Yea check out my hair. Intense huh? My mom used to brush it out after my baths. There is picture proof that I hated this. I just looked again and I STILL have that wonkey eye. Wonder what my mom smoked while she was pregnant. I loved those red pajamas. They were the ones with feet. Totally comfortable. I think I had a blue pair too.

Flashback Friday

I dont participate in any weekly posts but Flashback Friday has to be the exception. I absolutely love the concept and what better excuse to do it than NaBloPoMo? Easy post WIN.

I’m not sure if you know this, but I’m an only child. Sometimes I wish I had a brother or sister, but since I dont really know the difference, I’m pretty happy to be an only child. The cliche is that I was spoiled and know what? IT’S TRUE. I was spoiled. By my parents, by my grandparents, you name it. You might think I act spoiled (and sometimes I do. Waaah) but I don’t really think I am, mostly.

As you can see, I was pretty freakin’ adorable if you don’t mind me saying. OK in this picture, I look a little stoned. I”m not exactly sure if I am sitting next to my dad, or my grandpa. We went to games ALL the time when I was a kid. My dad was raised a Dodger fan, and so was I. Based on the hands, it looks like it might be my grandpa. However, based on the radio and the scorebook, it could have been my dad. I should have asked. Ha.

I suppose this picture really shows WHY my parents have told me that I look like Fernando Valenzuela. He’s the Manny Rodriguez of the 80’s to the Dodgers. Fernando helped the Dodgers win a World Series and at that time, I was already a fan, all up in my mommy’s belly.

Obviously I don’t think I was even old enough to walk here but yea, wasn’t I cute? Heh. Babies.

When I was growing up, my parents both worked and went to night school to finish their degrees. I spent a lot of time with my grandparents. Lucky for me, both my dad’s mom and mom’s mom lived on the same property. One in the front house and the other in the back. During holidays and some weekends, I got to see all sides of my family and spend time with my cousins. Obviously, I was very much the cutest and most loveable kid. HAHA. I dont know if thats true. I’m makin’ shit up. I know as I got older, I was pretty bratty. But that’s a blog post for another day. Lets just say, I was well dressed, groomed, and well taken care of as a little girl. And above all else, I was loved. Very, very loved.

OMG the adorable, adorable curls! Sign me up for a daughter, STAT.

Cooking with Miss

I don’t cook often, but when I do, I take pictures of it.

On the Menu: Drumsticks and Mac and Cheese (I’m all about nutrition here)

Getting started:

Kid’s got his juice, and mommy has hers.

The chicken needs to be baked with something on it right? *shrug*

I’ll just melt this butter here…. what about spices?

I dont know what any of these are. Can you tell they aren’t used in this house?

Melted butter and Lawry’s Seasoning Salt. Shit goes with everything.

Pour mixture on chicken.

Do not ask me why that bottom drumstick looks like it has a vagina on it. A really awful vagina. Vagina chicken.

Cook. 30 minutes @ 400 degrees. 30 minutes? Nice…

Break time!

Yes, I was lighting my smokes with that.

Break time is over (boo) and its time to make the box Mac N Cheese.

I cant make this stuff with my eyes closed.

Chicken time!

Oh yea, I made that potholder. Potholder WIN.

Should we use these to eat? Authentic WIN.

Presentation:

JD? Goood.

Chicken? Is it supposed to be pink inside?

I don’t know what happened. Usually I can cook chicken. I guess that if you don’t cook for a while, it shows. Jim, ZJ… sorry if I made you guys cry a little bit. I told you both that I suck at cooking.
